He sees a key way of doing this is through helping people who are less fortunate and are experiencing personal difficulties in their lives. He has worked hard and continues to promote and benefit many good causes and charities, large and small, that he believes will help Bangladeshis both at home and overseas.

BIRDEM. - The Bangladesh Institute for Research into Diabetes
Tommy Miah is in the process of producing a book of recipes – suitable for diabetics and promoting the virtues of healthy eating – in conjunction with BIRDEM. All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to help the work of BIRDEM is helping diabetics in Bangladesh.

CANCER RESEARCH UK
This is the principal funding body, promoter and organiser of research into cancer treatments in the UK. It’s activities benefit people worldwide. Tommy Miah produced a recipe book to raise funds for Cancer Research and was honoured that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth contributed a dedication for the book.

SHISHU POLLI PLUS – Sreepur Village
The Sreepur Village is a small non-religious, non-political organisation that funds and runs the Sreepur Women & Children's Village situated in rural Bangladesh. The Village provides care, attention and education for 580 children and 100 destitute women so that they can look forward to an independent adult life. Tommy Miah is a frequent visitor to Sreepur Village where he joins in the activities and raises much-needed funds

CRP Bangladesh – Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed
Founded in 1979 in response to the desperate need for services for spinal injured patients, the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) has developed into an internationally respected organisation. CRP takes a unique approach. It does more than look after the physical problems but works with patients as individuals to prepare them to get back into the community and rebuild their lives.
